Greeting fellow teachers and union members, My name is Jennifer Shreve and I am the 2019-2020 President of the Nome Education Association. I have lived in Nome and taught for seven years both at the elementary and junior high. I have been a member of the union since I started in 2013 by representing the union as Building Rep and President. I am originally from Wyoming where I worked in the educational system as a regular classroom paraprofessional, secretary, substitute, and Special Education paraprofessional. I have three wonderful sons and two adorable grandchildren, plus I am married to one of the Technology Titans for the district. 

 

I enjoy being a part of the union knowing there are others who have expertise in content, management, and strategies which can enhance my teaching. The union lets me focus on my classroom rather than what is happening in the world when it comes to financial struggles of education. I know NEA-Alaska is working to keep education in the front of minds of teachers, parents, students, and community. Our union works hard to support teachers while having some fun activities to let everyone relax. I hope you find the union to be a supportive shoulder, a listening ear, and a caring heart on any concerns you have.
